I had to create a nf and set up the configuration manually. But even switching to X11 didn't give me VRR straight out of the box. I've discovered quickly that Wayland on Gnome does not seem to support VRR as of yet (the PR is now more than a year old.) and generally there seem to be only less than a handful of Wayland implementations that allow VRR to function (KDE and Sway are all I know). I've got a 144Hz VRR monitor (connected via DisplayPort) and was struggling to get the refresh rate match my framerate. I'm currently running Manjaro with Gnome on X11 and I absolutely love it!Įverything was basically plug and play, except 1 thing: VRR. I've been running Windows on my private desktop for most of my life because of gaming, but because of the recent developments with Proton and the Windows 11 leaks I started looking into using Linux for gaming.
